IVIG is an intravenous blood product composed of immunoglobulins which provide defenses against various autoimmune disorders and also boost immunity in patients with severe immunodeficiency.
- IgG deficiency disorders such as Common Variable Immunodeficiency
- Autoimmune disorders such as Idiopathic thrombocytopenia Purpura, Dermatomyositis, Kawasaki disease, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple sclerosis and Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Patients with IgA deficiency should not receive IVIG.
IVIG is typically administered as an infusion and frequency depends on the condition and will be determined by the referring physician.
