Simponi Aria


SIMPONI ARIA (also known as Golimumab)

Mechanism:

Simponi aria is an antibody that block tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) which is a core inflammatory modulator.

Indications:

  • Active, moderate-to-severe Rheumatoid Arthritis in conjunction with methotrexate
  • Active Psoriatic Arthritis
  • Active Ankylosing Spondylitis

Contraindications:

Patients with active infection should not be started on Simponi aria.  Patients with Hepatitis B and congestive heart failure should consult with their physicians prior to starting on Simponi Aria.

Administration:

Simponi is typically administered as an infusion over thirty minutes at weeks 0, 4, and then every 8 weeks thereafter.
